LOCAL NATIVES

I saw Local Natives in July, and was not impressed. I thought they sounded boring and didn’t do much for me. However, after having a proper couple of listens to their debut album; ‘Gorilla Manor’, I have changed my mind big time! This is one of the albums of the year and is a refreshing record. Without the use of conventional drum sounds and with the inclusion of interesting instruments, this makes for one of the most exciting albums of recent years. I am particularly hooked on the tracks ‘Airplanes’ and ‘Warning Sign’. They offer examples of perfect pop songs and wonderful imagination. I now realise that I need to see them live again, to witness this wonderful music in person.
